Infection by Mycobacterium ulcerans, a condition popularly known as Buruli ulcer (BU), has been identified by the WHO as a rapidly re-emerging disease. This website outlines the epidemiology, clinical and laboratory diagnosis, and treatment of this disease, and is a collaborative effort of the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology and American Registry of Pathology, Washington, DC, USA, and the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Antwerp, Belgium.
